The Biweekly Update From Ira's Intercontinental March on Egalitarian Living #2

Intercontinental March

Second installment on my indefinite solo travel journey across three continents.

The Biweekly Update From Ira's Intercontinental March on Egalitarian Living #2
Hey hey, The top three updates from the last two weeks were:

Going to Hebron in the West Bank which is split block by block between Israeli and Palestinian control. It looks how you might expect one of the holiest cities in the world to look (burials for Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, etc...) that's been fought over for a few thousand years. It was tough to see how poorly the Palestinian conditions were especially across the street from Jews who lived significantly better but I also learned that Palestinians haven't had elections since 2006 which makes me question how much responsibility they are taking for their own issues. The first picture is from one of the stores we went into on the Arab side of the city, I've never been in a shop that looked quite like that.

Going to Kibbutz Harduf where I got my ass kicked putting in/taking out irrigation, harvesting okra, peppers, and figs, clearing rocks, and all while mitigating some pretty wicked food poisoning. Second picture is of the gang on the farm.

Turning down a full-time job offer for the first time because we couldn't negotiate start-date, it feels good to stay free.

Other notable mentions include when the group of us who extended were saying goodbye there an extra guy named Roman (the guy in the lower right of the third picture) who said it was a "short pleasure" in his closing statement which I plan to use when appropriate for the rest of my days and the views from the Austrian hospice rooftop in Jerusalem (4th and 5th pictures). I just bought flights to Cairo and Athens for October 16th and 21st, but next stops are Be'er Sheva and Eilat in the south and crossing the Jordan border for a stint. Stay groovy, Ira Photos
