This Time Around We Say The Words
Seidman for Mayor Campaign Update
Eleventh update to my mailing list about the progress and goals for my campaign.
Dear Neighbor,
The number one reason I joined this race is because I could not vote in one more election cycle where every single candidate put forth ideas as if the government was structurally designed to bring these ideas to fruition. I could not vote in one more election where we spoke about healthcare, criminal justice, and police reform as if our democracy has not been bought and sold by special interests. I could not vote in one more election where I didn't hear a single candidate say the words "the government is corrupt."
But this time around, we say the words. We say the words not to bum each other out or stoke fear in one another, but to inspire hope. It is only once we say the words that doing something about it becomes possible. It is only once we say the words that doing something about it becomes possible.
The government is corrupt, but New Yorkers are unstoppable. With our combined efforts I know we can fix anything. If you want to learn more or support my message of decentralizing power to fight corruption catch me in:
Pelham Bay Park tomorrow in the Bronx, 10am-5pm (weather permitting, and happy Mother's Day!)
Strawberry Fields in Central Park Wednesday 5/12, 4-10pm
My criminal justice reform mayoral candidate questionnaire answers which was conducted by Columbia University’s Justice Lab and JustLeadershipUSA. I will be sure to pass along the link once the submissions are published
Tonight we say the words, the government is corrupt. This time around we say the words so that maybe one day soon we will not have to.
In decentralized power,
Ira Seidman
