Seidman for Mayor Campaign Update

Seventeenth and pennultimate update to my mailing list about the progress and goals for my campaign.

Neighbor- Tomorrow is Juneteenth which celebrates the emancipation of slavery in the United States. There are two ways to look at the progression of this country since 1865 when the Civil War ended and slavery was largely abolished - for one, every year we have marched closer towards our ideals of liberty and justice for all as voting and civil rights for women, blacks, children, and the poor among others have become more solidified into law; or two, slavery has merely taken a different form as mass incarceration and companies like Amazon find new ways to exploit the needy despite the laws making it tougher to do so. The reality is likely somewhere in the middle, reminding us of both how fighting for our ideals can lead to change along with our duty to do so in order to pass on a better society than we received. This week I talked to transcendentalists and bagel lovers alike from Williamsburg to Google Hangout. I am grateful for the time people spend engaging with me, the resources passed along to help me learn more, and the way so many have challenged me to make my ideas and candidacy better. Tuesday is the primary and last day to vote, I'll be campaigning widely to reach voters before the polls close at 9pm. If you missed my latest position paper for whatever reason, here it is - Legislation By Jury. I'm pumping out one minute videos for Generation Z which can be found here and on TikTok [link now defunct] alike. Finally, I hope to see any and all of you in Van Cortlandt Park, Jackson Heights, or various Manhattan polling stations between now and Tuesday, peep my calendar for details as always.
